Job Description
COURSE and SCHEDULE THEA 143 Stagecraft
Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:25 AM- 1:35 PM in the Spring and Fall semester. This course has 3 lecture and 3 lab units.
Primary Purpose
Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

- Knowledge, skills, and abilities as determined by the District.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline AND two years of professional experience OR
- Associate degree in any discipline AND six years of professional experience OR
- Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area. OR
- The equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
- Ability to collaborate with and teach students from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive learning environment while imparting the principles of theatre arts with a focus on Production and Design – Stagecraft.
- Skilled at adapting instructional methods to meet varying skill levels and learning styles.
- Demonstrated Expertise In Both The Theoretical And Practical Application Of Traditional And Contemporary Stagecraft Principles.
- Employ And Teach a Dynamic Lecture/laboratory Format Integrated With Project-based Learning To Deliver Comprehensive Instruction Across a Wide Range Of Scenic Design And Construction Disciplines, Including Theatrical SafetyTheatre ArchitectureHardware and Fastening SystemsScenic MaterialsScenery Construction: Flats, Platforms, and Step UnitsScenery Movement: Decks, Wagons, Turntables, and SlipstagesStructural Design and Building CodesRigging Systems: Static and DynamicRope Work: Knots and Splicing TechniquesScenic Finishes and Surface Treatments Understanding of CTE program objectives with a robust background in theatrical video and projections work at a theme park or entertainment venue.
- LMS experience/training (Canvas).
- Detailed experience teaching technical theatre courses, especially introductory classes, with innovative teaching practices supporting success and retention of women, students of color and students with disabilities.
- Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, and/or community leaders in programs and initiatives that are specifically designed to assist historically underrepresented students achieve their educational goals.

Summary
This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified. This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
