The role

About the role

The role focuses on creating robotic applications letting robots perform advanced tasks in complex environments. This means navigation, manipulation environment understanding and autonomy. We have hardware development platforms (mobile robots, robotic arms, sensors) for which you will develop application code, but you will be free to customize the hardware as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop application code for mobile robots, robotic arms, and sensors using our artefacts platform.
• Customize hardware as needed to support and accelerate development.
• Develop applications on simulated robots where hardware is not yet available.
• Contribute to the shaping of our platform by using new software paradigms such as software 2.0, distributed intelligence, and AI.

Requirements

• Enthusiasm and interest toward robotics and AI.
• Ready to join a startup environment that can be messy and requires personal commitment.
• Publicly visible work on platforms like ServerFault or StackOverflow, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, personal blog or Medium contributions, presentations at meetups, and work of pride.
• Experience with Deep Learning Libraries (TensorFlow, Pytorch, JAX), Robotics framework (ROS, ROS 2, yarp), Computer vision (OpenCV), Embedded programming, a programming language (Python, Rust, Go, C, Julia), Distributed version control (Git), Container technology (Docker), Simulation technology (Gazebo, Isaac Sim), and hardware (electronics, CAD, 3D printing).

Qualifications

• Advanced analytical skills are beneficial but not necessary.
• A real passion for Robotics Software.
• A graduate degree in related disciplines is not necessary but can make the visa-application process easier.

We do not specify pay levels as we aim to grow together with you and there is no need for everything right away.

We are a remote-first team, with preference for candidates in the JST timezone or so, and candidates in Japan (hardware!).
