About the role
The role focuses on creating robotic applications letting robots perform advanced tasks in complex environments. This means navigation, manipulation environment understanding and autonomy. We have hardware development platforms (mobile robots, robotic arms, sensors) for which you will develop application code, but you will be free to customize the hardware as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop application code for mobile robots, robotic arms, and sensors using our artefacts platform.
- Customize hardware development platforms as needed.
- Develop applications on simulated robots where hardware is not yet available.
- Contribute to the development of our artefacts platform, focusing on new software paradigms such as software 2.0, distributed intelligence, and AI.
Requirements
- Enthusiasm and interest toward robotics and AI.
- Ready to join a startup environment.
- Experience with Deep Learning Libraries (TensorFlow, Pytorch, JAX).
- Robotics framework experience (ROS, ROS 2, yarp).
- Computer vision experience (OpenCV).
- Embedded programming experience.
- Programming languages experience (Python, Rust, Go, C, Julia).
- Distributed version control experience (Git).
- Container technology experience (Docker).
- Experience adapting research to real use cases.
- Experience with simulation technology (Gazebo, Isaac Sim).
- Experience with hardware (electronics, CAD, 3D printing).
Qualifications
- Publicly visible work on platforms like ServerFault or StackOverflow.
- A GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket account.
- A personal blog or Medium contributions.
- Presentations at meetups.
- Work of pride.
Skills
- Deep Learning Libraries: TensorFlow, Pytorch, JAX.
- Robotics framework: ROS, ROS 2, yarp.
- Computer vision: OpenCV.
- Embedded programming.
- Programming languages: Python, Rust, Go, C, Julia.
- Distributed version control: Git.
- Container technology: Docker.
- Simulation technology: Gazebo, Isaac Sim.
- Hardware: electronics, CAD, 3D printing.
Benefits
- Modern offices within 5 min walking distance from Shinjuku station.
- Medical checkup support in Tokyo.
- Full or part time as you prefer.
- No bonus culture.
- Honest salaries.
- Inclusive environment.
- Personal growth-oriented.
- Adaptable working conditions.
Pay
We do not specify pay levels as we aim to grow together with you and there is no need for everything right away. Please consider applying even if you only see partial coverage of the above!
Schedule
We are currently remote-first, but preference is given to candidates in the JST timezone or so, and candidates in Japan (hardware!).
Application stages
- Getting to know each other through online profiles and meetings.
- Decision-making relatively rapidly.
- May ask for references.
Conditions and Team Membership
- We aim to adapt working conditions as we all see fit.
- We encourage asking “why”.
- We are a remote-first team.
- We usually start with a three-month contract to start working together.
- We breathe open source, when it makes sense.
