Position Summary
The Louisville Boat Club is seeking a Multi-Sport Racquets Professional to join our Racquets Department. Squash expertise is a non-negotiable requirement for this position. The ideal candidate will possess strong squash teaching and programming experience while also demonstrating the ability—or willingness to develop expertise—in tennis, pickleball and platform tennis. Working closely with the Director of Racquets and the racquets team, this individual will help grow participation across all racquet sports while serving as the primary professional responsible for developing and promoting our squash program. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious teaching professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to help shape one of the region's most diverse racquets programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Squash Leadership: Serve as the Club's lead squash professional. Develop and grow junior and adult squash participation. Provide private, semi-private, and group instruction. Organize leagues, ladders, mixers, round robins, and tournaments. Recruit and retain squash players through engaging programming. Represent the Club at regional squash events and competitions.
- Multi-Sport Instruction: Teach and assist with programming in squash (primary focus), tennis, pickleball, and platform tennis. Responsibilities include private lessons, group clinics, junior development, adult instruction, beginner programming, and competitive player development.
- Programming & Events: Assist in planning and executing racquet sport tournaments, junior camps, adult clinics, social mixers, club championships, member-guest events, interclub competitions, and special instructional events and exhibitions. Work collaboratively with the Racquets Department to create a year-round calendar that encourages member participation across all disciplines.
- Member Experience: Deliver an exceptional level of hospitality by building meaningful relationships with members and guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere for players of all ages, encouraging new player participation, promoting lessons, clinics, leagues, and events, and supporting membership growth and retention through outstanding service.
- Operations: Assist with court scheduling and daily operations. Help maintain professional appearance and cleanliness of racquet facilities. Support racquet shop merchandising and retail initiatives. Assist with racquet stringing (preferred but not required). Collaborate with other departments to support Club events. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Racquets or General Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong squash teaching experience (required)
- US Squash certification preferred
- Experience teaching tennis, pickleball, and/or platform tennis strongly preferred
- PTR, USPTA, PPR, IPTPA, or Platform Tennis certifications are a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, energetic, team-oriented personality
- Strong organizational and event management abilities
- Passion for growing racquet sports participation
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
