The Genesee Valley Club (GVC), a historic Platinum Club of America, features an extensive racquets program central to its mission of providing a world-class membership experience in Rochester. Founded in 1885, the Club draws its membership from outstanding leaders in business, industry, professions, and government, serving as a facility for sociability, fine dining, and racquet sports.

The Club’s fitness and sports facilities include three international squash courts, Rochester’s only doubles squash court, four outdoor Har-Tru tennis courts, an indoor tennis court (also used for two pickleball courts), two platform tennis courts, an outdoor pool, a group exercise room, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The racquets department is led by a Director of Racquets and supported by a Director of Athletics and Youth Programming, offering private and group lessons, clinics, and camps for all ages and skill levels.

Responsibilities

  • Teach squash, tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball private and group lessons for adults and juniors.
  • Assist with the organization and execution of leagues, clinics, socials, and club events.
  • Grow professional knowledge in multiple racquet sports.
  • Provide a welcoming and professional environment for all members and guests while promoting racquet sports participation.
  • Contribute to day-to-day racquets operations, including court setup, event preparation, and administrative tasks.
  • Uphold Genesee Valley Club standards of professionalism and service both on and off the court.
  • Manage member social events, tournaments, mixers, and Member-Guest competitions.
  • Act as a “Racquets Ambassador” to engage both active and non-participating members in the club’s athletic community.

Qualifications

  • Strong playing and teaching background in at least squash or tennis.
  • USPTA, US Squash, PTR, or similar certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Energetic, positive attitude with a passion for teaching and engaging with members.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay

Anticipated range: $65,000 – $80,000, including hourly lesson income.
