Assistant Racquets Professional

Start-date: September 14th, 2026. This position reports directly to the Director of Racquet Sports and will function as an integral part of the management team at one of Ohio’s finest private clubs. Facilities include six outdoor har-tru courts, four indoor hard courts (bubbled in winter), and eight indoor pickleball courts.

About the role

The Racquets Professional will assist the Director of Racquet Sports in overseeing and managing all facets of the racquet-sports operation (tennis and pickleball), with a focus on delivering a high standard of service, hospitality, and instruction to members and guests. This is a generously compensated opportunity for someone who wishes to build a long-term career in the private-club industry and aspires to become a Director of Racquet Sports.

Responsibilities

• Promote the overall racquet-sports program, club events, and tournaments.
• Co-manage and direct the Junior tennis program.
• Teach clinics and private lessons to players of all ages and ability levels.
• Run cardio clinics and assist in men’s and women’s team practices.
• Organize and/or assist with special tennis events, tournaments, camps, and clinics (average one social event per month).
• Oversee Pro Shop merchandising and racquet stringing.
• Compete for club teams when needed.
• Handle administrative duties: Tennis Shop coverage, attendance sheets, lesson billing, program/event promotion, message-taking, and seasonal-professional supervision.
• Represent and manage the Tennis Shop and facility in the Director’s absence.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of the tennis facility and Shop (fill water coolers, vacuum, sanitize, etc.).

Requirements

• 3+ years’ experience at an upscale private club or resort with a proven record of assisting in the management of a superior racquet-sports operation.
• USPTA and/or USPTR, USPPR, and PPTA instructor certifications in tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball are highly preferred; QuickStart certification is a plus.
• Candidates from high-level coaching environments (college, ITF, ATP, WTA) will also be considered.
• Tennis playing level of 5.0 or higher; must be able to teach/coach all levels of play.
• NCAA D-1 playing background strongly preferred.
• Willingness to improve in both tennis and pickleball if current playing or teaching level does not meet the standard.
• Passion for tennis, platform tennis, and/or pickleball, and a commitment to excellent member service.
• Energetic, self-motivated, outgoing, and positive personality that attracts members to the sport.
• Team-oriented mindset to help create and inspire a quality racquets program while respecting club culture and traditions.
• High moral character, strong work ethic, and ability to serve as an Ambassador of Racquet Sports.
• Excellent organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, creative, detail-oriented, and able to work well with others.
• Schedule: six days per week, including weekends.
