Texas-IP Litigation Associate
About the role
The Winston Taylor Intellectual Property team is seeking a mid-level litigation associate with 3-5 years of experience as a seasoned patent litigator. This individual will represent both accused infringers and patent owners before district courts, the International Trade Commission, and/or the USPTO in Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings. A degree in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent professional experience is required. USPTO registration is a plus but not mandatory. The preferred location is Dallas, though candidates from other office locations may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in patent infringement lawsuits and related matters
- Prepare and present evidence and arguments in court
- Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio management
- Participate in pre-litigation counseling and negotiation
- Manage and mentor junior associates
Requirements
- Admission to the state bar of the preferred office location
- Experience in patent litigation, including district court, ITC, and PTAB proceedings
- A degree in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent professional experience
- USPTO registration is a plus but not required
Qualifications
- Strong academic background, preferably in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, or related field
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
