Testing Technician

About the role

QAI Laboratories is a testing, inspection, and certification organization providing services to manufacturers of electrical products, building products, vehicles, factory-built structures, and other regulated products. We are seeking motivated Lab Technicians to join our Building Products team in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate is hands-on, able to read and comprehend test standards and specifications, and has a background in window testing or related product testing. Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to work overtime when needed is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Build test fixtures and assemblies
• Execute provided work instructions
• Assist senior technicians as assigned
• Maintain clean and organized inventory
• Prepare written and verbal reports for clients and management
• Learn and grow within the organization
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or designee

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word required; other programs an asset)
• Safe working practice with construction tools
• 1-2 years of experience using a variety of power tools in a construction setting
• 1-2 years of experience using electrical or manual tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Good knowledge of and adherence to safety standards
• Attention to detail
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong teamwork and time-management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working at an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory
• Experience in the testing, inspection, and certification industry
• Knowledge of common ASTM test methods relating to building products
• Experience working in diverse teams of engineers, operations, sales, and marketing
• Forklift experience or certification
• Previous experience in the construction industry
