Responsibilities
- Prepare and condition nonmetallic samples for mechanical testing.
- Operate mechanical testing equipment such as universal testing machines, DMA analyzers, and hardness testers.
- Perform routine and specialized tests including: Tensile and elongation testing, Hardness testing (Shore, Rockwell), Compression testing, and Shear and flexural testing.
- Record and analyze test data accurately using lab software and spreadsheets.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot testing equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to support custom testing plans.
- Aid in preparing technical reports and documentation for clients.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in a mechanical testing or laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with mechanical testing standards (ASTM, ISO) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
- Basic understanding of polymers, composites, and nonmetallic materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data entry systems.
- Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
