Duties (Essential)
- Diagnose, repair and report out on boat and trailer issues
- Run prototype boats on the water for the purpose of diagnosing or testing repairs
- Work closely with the Engineering team to help build and install design ideas into prototype boats for testing
- Diagnose, repair and report out on boat and trailer issues
- Systems include but are not limited to Engine, powertrain and underwater gear system
- Mechanical tabs, towers and biminis
- Electrical systems
- Ballast pump, tank and hoses
- Fuel systems including fuel pumps and fuel tanks
- Uncap and reassemble boats and trailers
- Install/uninstall align motors and transmissions
- Blistert fill/bondo work
- Familiar with Lake Test procedures
- Testing New Model and Model Change DVP&R testing
- Warranty/Returned Part testing
- Complete 5S projects
Duties (Non-Essential)
- Maintain engineering shop / test equipment
- Weighing boats
- Fuel and maintain engineering DV boat fleet
Education & Work Experience
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be able to read and understand instructions and demonstrate mechanical repair acumen
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a boat building production environment a must
- Must be able to teach and train production employees and supervisors on various production problems/parts
- Must be able to communicate effectively with production employees and engineers
- Must have computer experience using Windows based programs
- Must have knowledge of hand and pneumatic tools, and be able to drive a forklift and tractor and operate a crane
- Must have above average attendance and ability to work overtime with little to no notice
- Basic understanding of 12V DC systems with trouble shooting knowledge
- Understanding of combustion engines and engine systems from electrical, mechanical
- Must be able to install and remove engines and transmissions
- Basic knowledge of propeller testing
- Basic knowledge of all boat systems, exhaust, bilge, waste, water, heater, electrical, and fuel
- Must be able to use tape measure, caliper, micrometer and other data acquisition equipment (sound meter, radar gun, GPS, etc.)
Environmental and Working Conditions
- Works in a production environment
- Must be able to hear and talk to understand and ask for instructions
- Must have effective eyesight and visual accommodation
- Requires reasonable physical stamina
- Temperature and ventilation in work area are uncontrolled
- Pushing and pulling of moderate weight is required
- Requires moderate to heavy lifting (25 to 50 pounds) plus bending, walking, stooping, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crouching
- Personal protective equipment may be required depending on job duty
Skills & Aptitudes
- Language skills - Able to understand spoken instructions with regard to job training and safety concerns and the ability to speak conversational English
- Reasoning skills – Ability to apply common sense troubleshooting and diagnose problems on all components of boats and trailers
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed finishing and assembly of all products
- Ability to deal with frequent changes related to equipment use and productivity
