About the role
We are seeking a Test Technician who will, with minimum supervision, plan, layout, and test moderately complex electronic, energetic, and electro-mechanical devices. Processes include thermal, vibration, mechanical shock, thermal shock, and custom testing equipment. Requires some troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities
- Investigates process and manufacturing problems during testing and initiates corrective actions
- Determines proper test set-ups, tests, troubleshoots, and notifies appropriate personnel when problems arise
- Prepares graphs, charts, and tabulations of testing data; maintains testing data and analyzes data under guidance of an engineer
- Performs routine analyses to check applicability, accuracy, and completeness of data
- Calibrates, adjusts, operates, and maintains environmental test equipment as required
- Assists in designing tools, jigs, and fixtures to increase production efficiency
- Handles multiple projects and coordinates testing with other operations to ensure schedules are met
- Performs other related duties of comparable complexity as directed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and specialized training beyond high school, typically acquired with 6–24 months of industrial experience
- Strong mechanical skills and experience using hand tools
- Ability to read assembly prints and follow written instructions
- Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Hands-on with critical thinking skills and problem-solving ability
- Experience in setup, repair, and maintenance of equipment
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and/or Six Sigma tools (an asset)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook)
- U.S. citizenship is required due to Department of Energy requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
- Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and mild lifting of 10 pounds or less
- Some roles require intermittent lifting up to 50 pounds
