About the role
We are seeking internal Test Technicians to ensure our products meet defined quality standards and performance specifications through rigorous testing and inspection. This role is critical in maintaining product reliability, safety, and compliance with industry regulations in our Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Remote Power Panels (RPPs), and UL 891 switchgear. The Test Technician will collaborate with various departments to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring we maintain the highest product standards throughout the production process.
Responsibilities
- Perform functional, electrical, and mechanical tests on LV switchgear assemblies.
- Verify wiring, torque settings, and component installation against engineering drawings.
- Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, and operational checks per test procedures.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to determine testing requirements.
- Participate in customer FAT / FOK / FWT processes.
- Troubleshoot and rectify electrical issues found during testing.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with electrical safety standards and company procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE and follow lockout/tagout protocols during testing.
- Complete detailed test reports and maintain accurate records of results for relevant stakeholders.
- Report non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis.
- Operate and maintain test equipment (e.g., multi-meters, insulation testers, high-potential testers).
- Ensure all tools comply with our calibration program and are in good working condition.
- Capture data on repeated failure modes to drive continuous improvement across all feed-in processes.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with production, project management, and engineering teams.
- Provide feedback on test procedures and suggest improvements.
- Support quality initiatives and participate in corrective actions when required.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in electrical power distribution or related field.
- 3+ years' experience working in an Electrical Testing role is desired.
- Familiar with relevant standards including UL, NEMA, ANSI, and NETA, and maintain NFPA 70E.
- Experience in product testing, inspection, and quality audits.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools for identifying trends and discrepancies.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Expertise in power distribution products such as switchgear, switchboards, PDUs, RPPs, etc.
- Knowledge of industry standards, including UL891, UL62368-1, UL508A, UL67, UL1008, UL1008S, UL1558.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking capability.
- Professional communication skills suitable for interfacing with customers.
NFPA 70E certification is preferred but will be provided by CEL.
