About the role
This is a hands-on role that primarily involves setting up and performing tests, as part of either durability or safety teams. Technicians work on projects from start to finish. Extended hours may be required due to test schedules. This is an entry-level position. Successful applicants will be able to learn quickly and sometimes work independently. This is a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking and communication. All the tasks are hands-on and requires a basic level of mechanical skills.
Responsibilities
- Interpreting technical specifications
- Accurately preparing and setting up test articles and fixtures/vehicles (requires kneeling and heavy lifting)
- Evaluating the performance of test articles using measurements and sensors
- Documenting detailed test procedures
- Communicating with supervisors and customers in a clear and timely manner
- Organizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure all deadlines are met
- Monitoring and maintaining test equipment
- Collaborating with other facilities to maintain consistent operating practices and introduce improvements throughout the company
Required Qualifications
- High attention to detail
- Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems independently
- Experience with basic hand and power tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- General computer skills (Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
- General understanding of automotive parts and mechanics
- Welding experience
- Hi-lo experience
- Experience with basic fabrication tools (band saw, drill press, etc.)
- General understanding of fasteners (metric/standard)
