Test Systems Engineer

About the role

VTG is seeking a Test Systems Engineer located in Springfield, VA to perform application, system, and integration testing across the National System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (ASG), and Federal Agencies, ensuring timely and accurate GEOINT.

Responsibilities

• Perform test and evaluation across NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies.
• Test applications and application programming interfaces (APIs) in DevOps pipelines using government‑established quality assurance measures and industry best practices.
• Conduct independent integration testing on system software or hardware to verify compliance with specified requirements.
• Plan and execute manual tests and automated test scripts using scripting and programming languages.
• Support technical investigations for defects discovered during test activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
• 6–12 years of mid‑level systems integration experience in government or industry, working with large, complex System‑of‑Systems or Service‑Oriented Architecture environments (cloud, on‑premise, or hybrid).
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools.
• Familiarity with traditional, Agile, and DevOps development practices and associated testing strategies.
• U.S. citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph.

Desired qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline.
• Experience with JMeter, Jenkins, Docker, Postman, Swagger, Nexus, Apigee or GitHub/GitLab (or equivalent), Java, Bash, Curl, XML, JSON, SQL, Python, JavaScript, AWS, and C2S.
• Working knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering processes, tools, and languages.
• Working knowledge of software development frameworks.
• Previous NGA and/or NSG/ASG program/project experience.
• Previous IC or DoD program/project experience.

Pay

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $135,000 – $190,000 annually. Final offers consider work experience, education, skill level, market considerations, and any contractual requirements, which may cause an offer to fall outside this range.
