Duties
- Serve as a student conduct administrator and/or investigator in cases of allegations of violations of the Code of Student Conduct and the Sexual Discrimination, Harassment and Misconduct Policy.
- Determine appropriate sanctions for violations of the Code of Student Conduct and/or provide appropriate referrals to other offices and agencies
- Employ dispute resolution, mediation, and problem solving techniques to resolve issues on an informal basis.
- Serve as a campus administrator for the Maxient Conduct Manager software and update/maintain confidential student conduct files in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.
- Provide advice, educational resources, and ongoing training to faculty and staff related to student behavior and the Code of Student Conduct.
- Provide educational workshops to students related to the Code of Student Conduct, conflict resolution, and civility.
- Serve on the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) and provide support to students of concern and faculty/staff members seeking guidance.
- Assist in the development and updating of departmental policies, procedures, publications, website and other resources.
- Congduct research and benchmarking studies to determine current best practices in the field of student conduct.
- Develop assessment criteria to determine the effectiveness of our student conduct program and implement formal assessment procedures based on these criteria.
- Prepare monthly/semester/annual reports regarding Code of Conduct Office activities.
- Participate in programs, activities, and committees as a representative of the Code of Conduct Office including but not limited to, Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) trainings, campus wide committees (e.g. Smoke-Free Campus Taskforce, Drug-Free Schools Taskforce), etc.
- Work closely with staff in developing, implementing, and interpreting the requirements of college policies, and state and federal legislation impacting the college.
- Develop positive professional relationships with faculty, staff and students.
- Cookordinate selection, training, and scheduling for community standards board members as needed.
- Collaborate with the Dean and other staff to maintain the Code of Conduct & Student Life areas; schedule and supervise events and handle potential disciplinary issues which arise; monitor student offices and Student Life areas, assist with supervising student employees.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative work environment with faculty, staff, students and other campus constituents.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills; the ability to think strategically to determine the most effective use of resources.
- Knowledge of government regulations that pertain to students including FERPA, Title IX, Clery, VAWA.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs, Microsoft Office, and conduct software (e.g. Maxient, Symplicity, PAVE, etc.).
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns and needs of a diverse student population.
- Ability to speak Spanish or Arabic is preferred.
- Ability to work with confidential files and information.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills with a track record demonstrating dedication to college values, including respect, diversity, fairness, integrity, equity and inclusion.
