Test Management (Phlebotomy) Coordinator - Banner Gateway (Evening Shift)

About the Role

Performs all technical and/or administrative work within assigned location/section at an advanced level of competency and efficiency. Acts as a resource, solving complicated and in-depth problems arising from routine and specialized testing procedures, as well as more sophisticated or unusual tests. Involved in quality improvement, research and development, and ensuring OSHA regulatory and CAP, CLIA, JCAHO accreditation compliance. Provides technical and procedural shift supervision, including determining schedules, managing day-to-day workflow, and contributing to assessments or disciplinary actions in coordination with management. Develops training programs for staff and participates in financial monitoring for the department.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily operational oversight for the shift, including determining schedules and managing workflow.
• Offers technical and/or procedural support to all bench-level and/or functional-level positions within the section.
• Focuses on quality by reviewing records and ensuring performance of all quality control procedures.
• Ensures quality assurance and instrumentation maintenance records meet accrediting and licensing agency standards.
• Assists management in implementing new QC/QA policies and continuous quality improvement programs.
• Provides support during inspections and oversees the quality of performance for all levels of test management.
• Participates in section financial monitoring, tracks supply usage, and supports waste and expense reduction programs.
• Assists in monitoring and controlling expenses throughout the year.
• Participates in basic personnel management, including selection, training, developing, coaching, and retention.
• Performs new employee orientation training and provides input for Functional Competency Assessments.
• Serves as a resource and communication liaison for multidisciplinary teams, physicians, nurses, clients, and other healthcare professionals.
• Interacts with stakeholders to respond to result or quality inquiries and testing-related issues.
• Participates in department/system-wide committees.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• High level of personal maturity and responsibility.
• Good reading, writing, and math abilities.
• Oral and written communication skills sufficient to understand instructions in English.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of department resource materials.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• One year of experience within an SQL/LSA clinical laboratory environment, or two years’ experience with an equivalent combination of leadership skills, training, or experience, or an Associate’s degree in an Allied Health or related field.
• Ability to recognize problems, identify causes, and determine solutions.
• Thorough knowledge of instrumentation and procedures utilized in the section.
• Working knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Good leadership, human relations, and communication skills.
• Exceptional customer service skills and advanced computer skills in multiple systems, including Laboratory Information Systems and Hospital Information Systems.
• Ability to use multiple software programs.
• Must demonstrate behaviors consistent with the values of Laboratory Sciences of Arizona.
• Employees assigned to multiple locations/sections must be able to work all shift times within their designated territory.

Preferred Qualifications

• National phlebotomy certification.
• Previous management experience or participation in management training programs.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English).
• Additional related education and/or experience.

Pay

Starting base pay rate of $22.87 per hour.

Schedule

Set schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM. Weekends as needed. Holiday rotation.
