About the role

The Human Services Technician (Senior Program Assistant) - Part Time position at the City of Tolleson provides customer service and operational support for senior services programs, activities, and facilities. Duties include greeting patrons, responding to inquiries, providing information about services, preparing equipment and facilities for daily activities, supporting program planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring the delivery and reporting of meals, monitoring facilities and equipment for safety and cleanliness, reporting concerns, performing basic cleaning and sanitizing, maintaining records, entering data, preparing summaries and reports, and assisting with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patrons and respond to inquiries
  • Prepare equipment and facilities for daily activities
  • Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of Senior Center programs and events
  • Ensure the daily delivery and accurate reporting of congregate and home-delivered meals
  • Maintain program records, gather and enter data, prepare monthly program summaries and performance reports
  • Affirmatively assist with administrative and program-related tasks
  • Support daily operations by ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for patrons
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience
  • Possess a valid Arizona driver's license, Food Handler's Card, First Aid/CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and Central Registry Background Clearance
  • Knowledge of: Job specific equipment, Customer service principles and practices, Basic facility operations, safety procedures, and sanitation practices, Recordkeeping techniques, Cleaning techniques, Modern office technology, Senior services, programs, activities, and resources available
  • Skills in: Following directions and meeting standards, Utilizing necessary work equipment and tools, Basic math skills, Effective time management, Providing customer service, Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications, Use effective interpersonal and communication skills with coworkers, supervisors, and the public

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

  • Positions in this class typically require standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, seeing, hearing, talking, climbing, and balancing
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
