Key Tasks
- Oversee successful implementation and completion of Test programs, including test schedules, completion of test documentation, test reports, and formal testing with customers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for daily test operations and activities.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of test engineers, including providing guidance on best testing practices and adherence to business processes.
- Review and interpret system, software, and hardware requirements from a testability perspective.
- Engage with Federal government, US Military, and other stakeholders to convey Test program status and achievements, as well as conduct defect ticket reviews and planning sessions.
- Conduct working group sessions with customers, users, and Engineering teams to review requirements and product design to ensure consistency and clarity in development and usability of systems.
- Track, prioritize and organize defects with JIRA, working with Engineering and Development to facilitate timely corrections.
- Report Test program statuses and milestone achievements to senior management and stakeholders.
- Lead by example in demonstrating professionalism, principled conduct, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Analyze customer and program requirements and assign verification methods to generate a VRTM (Verification Requirements Traceability Matrix) for Test programs.
- Plan verification strategies and test specifications based on customer and product requirements, hardware/software requirements, and use case scenarios.
- Communicate with system engineers, developers, product managers, and technical support specialists on critical issues.
- Identify and propose areas of improvement throughout the development and engineering process.
- Maintain well organized record of test results and generate historical analysis of test results.
- Develop and review formal qualification test reports which detail results of test procedures conducted during formal test events.
Key Qualifications
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in leading comprehensive test programs through the complete engineering lifecycle (design to deployment).
- Ability to supervise and lead a team of self-directed Test Engineers, as well as delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure efficient test operations.
- Experience in developing internal and deliverable test plans, test reports, and test documentation for mission critical systems within a production environment.
- Experience working directly with stakeholders, customers/end users, senior management, program management, and Engineering.
- Ability to communicate technical issues or project details with Test, Engineering, & Program Management, as well as in non-technical terms to business stakeholders and customers.
- Experience planning a Test program including schedule for test activities within all test phases, estimating resource needs, and ensure all milestones are achieved on schedule and within budget.
- Experience conducting formal testing in a regulated engineering environment.
- Experience interpreting customer specifications, MIL standards, hardware/software configuration items and design documents, and applying critical thinking to develop both high-level test strategies based on abstract concepts, as well as detailed functional test scenarios.
- Experience with system integration and functional testing in a parallel development and system engineering model.
- Excellent understanding of QA methodology, Agile/Scrum software development processes and project life cycles.
- Strong written, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience with IT and telecommunications hardware and software, or relevant certifications/experience.
