Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction, coordination, and mentorship to engineering team and field staff to optimize facility throughput and reliability.
- Supervise the activities of staff engaged in project engineering or development services programs.
- Accountable to ensure that sound engineering practices are followed.
- Support key business processes; management of change, and forecasting.
- Evaluate new technologies for implementation at current and future development phases.
- Supervise staff performing support and maintenance of engineering records or development-related services such as the review.
- Oversee engineering project management work for projects and facility upgrades.
- Oversee the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations for new and existing products.
- Ensure the effective use of materials, equipment, personnel safety during testing and producing quality products at minimum costs.
- Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- A Master’s Degree is a plus.
- Typically requires demonstrated leadership skills and 3-6 years of related experience.
- Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
- Demonstrates advanced functional and technical skills as well as people and/or process management skills.
- Demonstrates advanced/thorough knowledge of the function and Flex business.
- Ability to interact with internal and external customers.
- Use of the following tools may be required: Inspection: components, measuring tools; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of employees. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Identifies skills needed within the team and works toward obtaining proper mix to achieve established goals and objectives.
- Models appropriate behavior in support of Flex values.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and draw valid conclusions.
- Uses various tools associated with the following areas may be required: Electronic Assembly, Cables, Testing, Machine Operations, and Mechanical & Electrical Repair.
- Impacts immediate (daily or weekly) operations of team or functional area.
- Carrries out functional initiatives with a commitment to implement initiatives.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action, some of which may require management approval.
- Normally receives limited instructions on work, but works independently.
