About the Role
An entry-level individual contributor position within the Technical Specialist career stream. The role focuses on advancing existing technology or introducing new technology and therapies, primarily delivering R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies—from design to implementation—while adhering to policies and using specialized knowledge and skills.
This position supports the R&D team and RPE Team for Navigation/Enabling Technologies based in Lafayette.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment.
- Plans and arranges labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
- Provides test areas with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.
- Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
- Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
- Translates requirements into repeatable test protocols, executes testing, and documents results.
- Analyzes test data, troubleshoots failures, and determines root cause.
- Safely executes reprocessing involving autoclave sterilization and assesses the impact of processing on product performance.
- Understands and applies concepts such as sample-size, test method validation (TMV), and acceptance criteria.
- May act as a mentor to colleagues or direct the work of lower-level professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or another related engineering/technical discipline.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Onsite attendance required 4 days per week.
- Full-time role, 40 hours per week.
