About the Role
Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Test Engineer to join our team in Anderson, South Carolina, supporting high-impact projects in the data center industry with a strong focus on low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems. This position is based onsite at Vertiv's Anderson, SC office and involves designing and developing equipment setups and test procedures for major systems.
Responsibilities
- Work in a lab environment and direct local Test Technicians in daily activities, including job assignments and completion expectations.
- Collaborate closely with design engineering teams to ensure test procedures and data meet expectations.
- Create Test Plans for customer equipment demonstrations.
- Review test progress and evaluate results.
- Perform presentations utilizing test equipment for customer visits.
- Conduct test validations and Factory Witness Tests.
- Perform instrumentation calibrations within the lab.
- Provide continuous support to engineering and support groups to deliver high-quality test products for internal and external customers.
- Experience in safety certifications such as UL and CE is preferred.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent; preferred with thermal sciences emphasis.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in power management systems testing. Other equivalent combinations of education and hands-on experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of Vertiv Power Management Products preferred.
- Knowledge of LabView preferred.
- Understanding of thermal heat rise, short circuit current rating for LV/MV Switchgear and Switchboard products, and their test methods.
- Thorough knowledge of 3-phase electrical circuits.
- Thorough knowledge of digital and electronic circuitry.
- Ability to configure data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency in using temperature and pressure measurement instruments.
- Ability to use standard electrical instruments and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret industry test standards and product schematics.
- Hands-on ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with products and test setups.
- Leadership and communication skills to direct Test Technicians and report test issues to all levels of management.
- Excellent communication skills with a professional attitude toward customer relations.
- Self-directed with strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in English for communication and work.
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Oracle experience is an advantage).
- Category B driving license.
- Experience in project management and A-CAD (SolidWorks/CREO) is an advantage.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Hands-on engineering work, including the use of basic hand tools.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Travel as required, domestic and international, less than 5%.
