About the Role

The Test Engineer will interface with Project Management, Application Development, and leadership to ensure all testing work items are delivered with quality, without critical defects, in accordance with the schedule, and with the highest degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains business domain subject matter expertise of a given Product Family to assist with the design and creation of testing scope and test plans.
  • Analyzes requirements and technical specifications to build appropriate test cases and find or create test data.
  • Conducts test case reviews with the agile team to ensure proper coverage of requirements.
  • Documents, administers, and executes manual and automated test cases, procedures, and scripts per the test scope/plan for all testing types and functions.
  • Works with Test Automation Engineer(s) to define automation aspects and provides test cases for automation.
  • Ensures test results are accurately recorded and communicates them clearly to agile teams, stakeholders, and management.
  • Creates and monitors defects, providing detailed information on recreation steps, environment, components impacted, and error logs.
  • Attends agile meetings and collaborates with the team to meet sprint and milestone goals.
  • Raises risks or issues proactively to maintain transparency and help resolve them.
  • Demonstrates high standards of integrity, supporting the company’s mission, values, and privacy policies.

Level II Responsibilities (in addition to Level I)

  • Recommends opportunities for productivity and process improvements.
  • Scopes and plans all testing efforts, working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Stays current on new tools and technologies, mentoring less experienced testers.

Level III Responsibilities (in addition to Level II)

  • Implements productivity and process improvements, such as advanced testing techniques and metric tracking.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in testing methodologies.
  • Develops, defines, and implements test standards and guidelines.

Level IV Responsibilities (in addition to Level III)

  • Leads and owns testing strategies, scope, and plans for multiple projects, including defining testing types, reviewing dependencies, and coordinating cross-team testing.
  • Attends core team meetings to provide updates on testing progress, defects, and risks.
  • Acts as a testing organization representative, resolving barriers and raising risks.
  • Onboards new testers, familiarizing them with tasks, tools, and environments.

Level V Responsibilities (in addition to Level IV)

  • Reviews quality metrics dashboards and follows up on findings.
  • Collaborates with automation engineers to ensure requirements coverage, testing code quality, and automation backlog status.
  • Monitors third-party issues and coordinates UAT test cycles across teams.
  • Ensures accurate and timely delivery of test reporting metrics, including bug reports and test execution results.
  • Leads a testing/quality community of practice within a product family.
  • Recommends test solutions and strategies to senior management and the architecture council.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. In lieu of a degree, three (3) cumulative years of related technical or domain experience is required.
  • Basic knowledge of testing methodologies (black box, white box, regression, etc.), business requirements, use cases, databases, APIs, mobile, windows, and web applications.

Level II Requirements (in addition to Level I)

  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Experience working directly with business users.
  • Experience with functional, integration, system, load, and performance testing.
  • Experience with iterative, waterfall, and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to work on complex projects and multiple testing efforts concurrently.
  • Understanding of complex data-driven test scenarios, workflow testing, user stories, and behavior-driven development.

Level III Requirements (in addition to Level II)

  • Six (6) years of related work experience.
  • Ability to manage large and/or multiple project testing efforts simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root cause problems and determine innovative solutions.

Level IV Requirements (in addition to Level III)

  • Eight (8) years of related work experience. A combination of experience, advanced degree, or certifications may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a scrum team to improve software testing methodologies, technologies, and techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of all phases of the SDLC and automated, load, and performance testing.
  • Experience creating and updating onboarding documentation, testing processes, and procedure documents.

Level V Requirements (in addition to Level IV)

  • Ten (10) years of related work experience. A combination of experience, advanced degree, or certifications may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple scrum teams to improve software testing methodologies, technologies, and techniques.
  • Experience compiling and reporting test results, metrics, and issues to senior management.
  • Experience working with automation development engineers to ensure requirements coverage and automation test quality.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors to track and resolve issues.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a traditional office environment under fluorescent lighting.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk using a computer, keyboard, and mouse for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to orally communicate.
  • Must be able to travel across the enterprise.
  • Ability to work in a home office for extended periods for business continuity.

Pay

Compensation ranges by level:

  • Level I: $60,410 – $84,000
  • Level II: $60,410 – $106,929
  • Level III: $71,880 – $129,384
  • Level IV: $87,766 – $157,978
  • Level V: $98,297 – $176,935

Actual salary will vary based on experience, knowledge, skills, education, and internal equity. The total rewards package includes group health and dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time off, and holidays.
