Test Counselor

About the role

VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care, is seeking a Full-Time Test Counselor at our Regional Office in Hopkinton, MA. This position requires travel to our Southern sites, including Bridgewater, Framingham, and Norfolk.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient education on HIV/HCV, and other infectious diseases of public health concern.
• Counsels patients via participation in the incarcerated education programs, opt-out, voluntary pre- and post-test counseling.
• Collects blood samples for HIV/HCV testing, via the DPH state lab.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures confidentiality.
• Facilitates Health Awareness and Peer Education groups.
• Attends conferences and in-service training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet program and facility needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Phlebotomy training and competency required.
• Five (5) or more years of clinical experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification and maintain any certifications required by contract.
• Attends a Department of Public Health (DPH) training curriculum within the first year of entering the profession, preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfecting/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration, and epidemiology.
