The Indiana Horse Racing Commission (HRC) oversees pari-mutuel horse racing in Indiana and protects the integrity of the sport through active and diligent regulation.
About the role
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Procure a urine sample of each horse entering the test barn for testing, in accordance with commission standard operating procedures.
- Identify each horse entering the test barn by verifying the correct microchip, freeze brand, or tattoo.
- Verify whip welts, cuts, or other conditions on horses as assigned.
- Maintain the test barn in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Candidate must follow commission rules, policies, and procedures regarding sample collection and chain of custody.
- Knowledge of commission rules, policies, and procedures regarding sample collection is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with large animals, preferably horses, is desired.
- Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
Pay
Starting salary for this position is $17.36/hr, but may vary based on education or work experience.
Schedule
This is a seasonal position limited to 180 working days in an eleven-month continuous period.
