Test and Balance Technician

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and understanding of the tools and techniques used to maintain, diagnose problems, and repair HVAC/R and associated electrical systems
• Study system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine the proper configuration and purpose of the system’s components, such as motors, pumps, fans, switches, ducts, or pipes
• Adjust the system’s controls to settings recommended by the vendor, conduct measurement tests, and discuss system malfunctions with system users to isolate problems
• Conduct HVAC test and balance procedures in either new construction and/or remodel-type projects
• Collect and tabulate system test data, make field observations, and coordinate closely with other construction trades such as electrical, mechanical, temperature control, and design teams
• Perform job take-offs and job setup, and track all instruments for recalibration requirements yearly

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience specifically in test and balance
• High school diploma or equivalent
• NEBB certification required
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Must be able to work independently
