Role Overview

The Territory Sales Manager for the Portland, OR area (remote) is responsible for growing agency relationships and sales production of GEICO and GEICO‑affiliated products within the assigned Oregon territory. The role includes managing agents, delivering training, and driving performance to meet strategic goals.

Location: Portland, OR (relocation assistance available). Overnight travel: approximately 30%.

Responsibilities

• Manage agents within the designated area using in‑person, virtual, phone, and email communication to build relationships, deliver training, and oversee agency performance.
• Act as subject‑matter expert on GEICO and GEICO‑affiliated products, features, and tools while understanding competitor offerings.
• Translate national strategic initiatives into local goals and objectives to increase agent engagement, execution, and growth.
• Deliver effective communications and assist agencies in developing local marketing plans and strategies to meet growth goals.
• Use data analysis to prepare pre‑call strategies focused on the greatest opportunities within the territory.
• Monitor agent performance against goals, procedures, and guidelines.
• Conduct training of agency staff on GEICO products, services, and value proposition.
• Counsel agents and, with leadership support, take disciplinary action up to termination.
• Prospect, interview, and approve new appointments to expand GEICO’s agency distribution.
• Adhere to the GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.
• Maintain attendance standards at the business location to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management.

Requirements

• Ability to perform essential functions (seeing, hearing, typing, speaking) with or without accommodation.
• Ability to meet in person and virtually.
• Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, and demonstrate strong organization/priority‑setting skills.
• Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
• Compliance with GEICO’s driving standards and policies; valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years of sales or relevant insurance experience.
• Proven track record of owning and driving sales results.
• Experience with multiple lines of insurance (P&C, Commercial, Life & Health) is a plus.

Compensation

Annual salary range: $104,550 – $161,950. The final salary will consider factors such as scope of responsibilities, work experience, education, location, and market considerations.
