Territory Manager, Roofing - Los Angeles, CA
About the role
This position is responsible for achieving company sales and profitability targets in the assigned sales territory for Westlake Royal Building Products – Roofing Solutions in the LA County region. The role involves developing and maintaining consultative relationships with customers and prospects in the following segments: Distributors, Custom Home Builders, Roofing Contractors, General Contractors, and Multi-Family Builders. Products include concrete and clay tile products and Westlake Royal Roofing System Components™. The ideal candidate will be based in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities
- Quickly establish strong relationships with all existing customers.
- Sell Westlake Royal Building Products’ concrete and clay roofing products and services to achieve targets/quotas in defined segments.
- Work with architects and designers to ensure the company’s products are specified in original planning documents.
- Interpret data from lead generation, industry/market research, and other reporting factors.
- Drive product performance to achieve market share, sales growth, and average selling price (ASP) targets.
- Develop and maintain territory plans to achieve company and regional business objectives and sales goals.
- Establish and maintain positive customer relations by regularly meeting with current and potential customers.
- Build rapport with key decision-makers within customers’ organizations.
- Participate in local building and roofing trade shows.
- Initiate and coordinate job site visits.
- Understand customer business operations, including their need for products, key personnel, and customers.
- Provide market intelligence on competitive products and companies to regional and corporate managers.
- Recommend changes in company products, practices, and marketing activities to capitalize on competitive opportunities.
- Operate within a given expense budget for the territory.
- Manage customer complaints in accordance with company policy.
- Coordinate with accounting personnel to keep customer accounts receivable current.
- Provide technical advice to current and potential customers.
- Distribute technical literature and arrange product demonstrations and training sessions.
- Submit all written and electronically transmitted sales reports and forecasts on a timely basis.
- Participate in prescribed sales, technical, and product training programs.
- Manage company customer database to effectively match customer needs with product offerings.
- Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures.
Some overnight travel may be required (up to 20% of the time).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
- Direct sales experience preferred; building product sales experience a plus.
- Excellent negotiating and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail-oriented.
- Enthusiastic, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.
- Consultative, solution-oriented selling approach.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (including Teams and Outlook 365).
- Experience with Salesforce, SAP, or other deal desk systems.
- Valid U.S. state driver’s license and insurability are mandatory.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The position may occasionally require lifting up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
Special working conditions include regular evening and weekend work, outdoor environments, non-climate-controlled warehouses, and exposure to the elements. The role requires the ability to be away from home some evenings and spend several hours per day riding in a car. Occasional air travel may be required.
