Termination Technician
About the role
The First Electronics Corporation (FEC) is a manufacturer specializing in over-molded, extra flexible, multi-conductor, fully EMI-shielded cable assemblies, harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies for military and harsh environments. FEC is AS9100D and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified.
Responsibilities
- Wire preparation
- Insulation removal
- Crimp pin onto wire conductor
- Insertion of wire into connector
- Measurement (SAE Standards)
- Insulation removal
- Flow solder, solder sleeves, and shrink heat shrink insulation
- Crimp pins on wire
- Check for electrical conductivity
- Remove or separate metal shield braids
- Tinning of wire
- Solder application to wire, contact pins, sockets, and terminal lugs
- Understand numbers and letter symbols on a wiring diagram
Requirements
Minimum vision (aided with magnification) requirements and an ability to understand and carry out work instructions and take supervisor instruction are important. Prior experience with IPC-620 cable manufacturing and proficiency with the tasks detailed above is strongly desired, but not required. The company will provide training on internal FEC/Trexon processes and systems, including removing wire, insulation, tinning the wire, using a crimp tool to crimp a contact onto the wire, and using proper insertion tools to insert wires into connectors.
Skills
We seek team members who demonstrate attention to detail, patience, and manual dexterity, pride of workmanship, and an ability to understand training principles for proper cable and wire manufacturing techniques.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds, crouching, stooping, reaching, close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and moderate noise levels. Specific vision abilities include the ability to adjust focus and the ability to understand numbers and letter symbols on a wiring diagram. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and must occasionally crouch, stoop, or reach.
