Terminal Traffic Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Customer Service, Scale House, and Inventory Control teams to achieve operational and customer service excellence.
  • Cook up daily traffic activities involving break bulk cargo, rail, vessel, barge, truck, and warehouse operations to ensure efficient cargo movement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, terminal operations, transportation providers, and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor cargo movements, inventory accuracy, shipment status, and transportation schedules while proactively resolving issues.
  • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel to develop reports, analyze operational data, track key performance metrics, and support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with marine scheduling and operations teams to coordinate vessel arrivals, cargo handling, storage, and outbound transportation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable transportation and terminal regulations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits while maintaining accurate operational documentation and inventory records.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Support leadership with operational planning, performance reporting, special projects, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in transportation, logistics, terminal operations, or traffic management.
  • Oracle/Net Suite experience is a plus.
  • Required experience managing break bulk cargo operations within a marine terminal or port environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of marine terminal operations, rail transportation, trucking, warehousing, and inventory control.
  • Proven leadership experience managing customer service, logistics, or operations teams.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.
  • Self-motivated professional with a continuous improvement mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing operational demands.
