Responsibilities

  • Move finished product in and out of the terminal in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner through rail offloading.
  • Operate computers programmed to run equipment and generate bills of lading for loading.
  • Process invoices for every load using our SAP billing system.
  • Monitor the load out of product to customers.
  • Be on call to address customer issues after normal terminal operating hours and weekends.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of shipping reports using Excel spreadsheets for data tracking.
  • Maintain and repair equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance, including troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and reassembling equipment.
  • Use hand tools to grease bearings, tighten drive belts, and chains on equipment (knowledge of arc welding and cutting torch operation is useful but not required).
  • Work overtime during breakdown events or return to work as needed.
  • Assist the Terminal Manager with day-to-day office activities and special projects.
  • Assume Terminal Manager responsibilities during vacations and other work interruptions.
  • Ensure terminal compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain facility appearance, including general cleanliness, landscaping, and janitorial duties.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate or trade school with one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during Spring and Summer months.
  • Self-motivated, safety-oriented, and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Computer knowledge, including experience with Excel and SAP billing systems.
  • Some accounting knowledge (e.g., balancing a checkbook).

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move more than 90 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Pay

$25–28/hour
