Sr. Terminal Operator 1

About the role

St. Marys Cement, part of Votorantim Cimentos North America (VCNA), is seeking a Terminal Operator to move finished product in and out of the terminal in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner through rail, truck and boat offloading. This role requires open availability, especially during Spring and Summer months, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform rail offloading of product and use computers programmed to run equipment as needed.
• Generate bills of lading for loading and process invoices for every load using the SAP billing system.
• Monitor load-out of product to customers and address customer issues while the Self-Loading system is in operation after normal terminal operating hours and weekends (on-call may be required).
• Conduct daily reconciliation of shipping reports and use Excel for data tracking.
• Maintain and repair equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance, including troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and reassembling equipment using hand tools.
• Use knowledge of arc welding and cutting torch operation when useful.
• Work overtime during breakdown events or return to work as needed.
• Assist the Terminal Manager with day-to-day office activities and special projects, including assuming Terminal Manager responsibilities during vacations and other work interruptions.
• Ensure terminal compliance with safety and environmental standards and maintain the facility’s appearance, including cleanliness, landscaping, and janitorial duties.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate or trade school with one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and mechanical ability.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Pay

$25.34 to $28.00 per hour
