About the Role

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a cement distribution terminal. This role involves hands-on operation and occasional maintenance of all terminal equipment, with a focus on developing proficiency in bulk truck and bulk railcar operations. Safety, quality, and customer service are the primary focus. The terminal receives product by bulk rail transport, stores it, and loads customer bulk trucks. Key functions include expediting trucks, handling customers, and ensuring product quality. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a positive attitude, mechanical aptitude, and teamwork in a small cross-functional group. The team is committed to operating in the safest and most environmentally responsible manner, adhering to all safety laws, regulations, and policies. Providing high-quality customer service and maintaining terminal equipment, housekeeping, and safe operations are vital.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all known Local, State, and Federal Laws and Regulations.
  • Load bulk trucks correctly, provide legal weights, and ensure proper product for customer delivery/pick-up.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all terminal property and equipment.
  • Maintain the terminal in a clean and presentable state.
  • Perform clerical functions following established guidelines for recording receipts, shipments, and inventory records.
  • Unload railcars, transfer product into proper silos, and sample and test products received and shipped.
  • Work at heights, in enclosed or confined spaces, near water, around moving equipment and machinery, and lift up to 50 lb.
  • Recognize and correct deficiencies, maintain high-quality standards, and work without supervision.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor, provided they do not present a hazard or violate any known governmental law.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments.
  • Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Related industry experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Ability to wear a respirator, full body harness, and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Competence with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Good telephone and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn and retain information.
  • Pleasant and positive working demeanor with customers, co-workers, and the public.
  • Ability to perform clerical tasks in a neat and accurate manner.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality standards, be responsible, dependable, and work without supervision.
  • Must work well with others and be a “Team Player.”
  • Strong communication skills; able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, with employees, customers, sales personnel, trucking firms, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize-approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including respirators.
  • Subject to applicable law, employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit tests.

Pay

Estimated Wage Range: $23.00 - $26.00/Hourly (US)
