About the role
This position is responsible for teaching courses in the Welding Program. The Instructor is responsible for identifying and meeting the needs of the students, contributing to the curriculum development, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of subject areas.
Responsibilities
- Identify and meet the needs of students
- Contribute to curriculum development
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of subject areas
- Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Excellent written communication skills and computer literacy
- Teach applicable theory and application of Welding outcomes
Requirements
- Appropriate AWS certifications and industry qualifications are required for courses taught
- An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required
- AWS Certified Welding Instructor certification is preferred
- An Associate of Applied Science degree in a field related to Welding & Nondestructive Testing Technology is strongly preferred
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred
- A combination of academic and recent work experience including relevant industry certification indicative of the ability to be successful in a faculty role may be considered
