Position Summary Information

The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Travel may be required for dual-credit classes.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
  • Successful college teaching experience is required.
  • Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and public.
  • Ability to develop and assess student learning outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Computer Science is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
  • Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
  • Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.
  • Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
  • Strong programming, information security, and networking background.
  • Post-secondary teaching and/or industry experience in programming, networking, server administration, information security or digital forensics fields.
  • Experience with virtual computing.
  • Experience in recruiting and outreach activities.
