Tenured/Tenure-Track: Assistant/Associate Professor
About the role
The CEPH-accredited School of Public Health at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time assistant/associate professor tenure-track position in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Texas A&M University is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), is a Carnegie Classification R1-Very High Research Activity, and is one of only 17 institutions in the nation to hold the triple designation as a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university.
Responsibilities
- Actively engage in scholarship and extramural research activity
- Teach face-to-face and online graduate and undergraduate courses in epidemiology or biostatistics
- Provide academic advising and mentoring for Master and Doctor of Public Health graduate students
- Pursue collaborations with institutes, centers, and programs across the Texas A&M University campus
Requirements
- Hold a PhD or equivalent degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field from an accredited school of public health or related educational institution
- Focus scholarship on epidemiologic methods/applied biostatistics in public health research
- Align with at least one of the school’s centers: Center for Community Health and Aging, Center for Health Equity and Evaluation Research, Southwest Rural Health Research Center, Center for Health and Nature, USA Center for Rural Public Health Preparedness, Center for Worker Health
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarly achievement, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will also have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the department's mission of advancing public health research and education.
Skills
Strong skills in biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health research are required. Proficiency in data analysis, statistical software, and research methodologies is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also necessary.
Benefits
This position is a 9-month hard-money funded appointment with a standard teaching load of four classes a year: two in Fall and two in Spring. External research funding and service to the profession are expected.
Pay
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This appointment will ideally start January 1, 2026, although the start date is flexible.
