Tenured Physics Professor - Simons Center for Geometry & Physics
About the role
The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University seeks applications for one Tenured Professor position in Theoretical Physics; the appointed individual will also hold a Tenured Professorship at the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP) and the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The search is open to outstanding candidates in any field of theoretical physics, ranging from quantum gravity to condensed‑matter physics. The candidate need not currently hold a tenured or tenure‑track position elsewhere.
The faculty member is expected to conduct creative, visionary research and to mentor postdoctoral scholars, with a strong commitment to inclusivity. There are no teaching obligations or heavy administrative duties, and ample resources will be provided for research.
The Simons Center has close ties with YITP and the Physics and Mathematics departments, fostering fundamental knowledge at the interface of mathematics and theoretical physics.
Location: Stony Brook, NY.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in theoretical physics or a closely related field, with an established record of outstanding independent research.
