Tenure -Track/Tenured: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition

About the role

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS), Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, 11-month/year, tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor in small animal clinical nutrition with an estimated start date in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

Responsibilities

• Devote approximately 35% effort to research, clinical instruction, and patient care (40% combined) in the GI Lab and the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH)
• Devote 15% effort to integrative classroom and laboratory teaching
• Devote 10% effort to academic citizenship
• Primary management of nutrition cases
• Instruction of veterinary students and technicians
• Mentorship of interns and residents
• Active supervision of house officers and in-depth participation in intern/resident training (including topic rounds, journal club, and backup support)
• Establish an impactful research program
• Demonstrate institutional citizenship through service to committees, working groups, and professional organizations
• Commit to holding themselves and colleagues accountable to the VMBS code of professional conduct

Qualifications

• DVM degree (or equivalent)
• Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM)-Clinical Nutrition or completion of an ACVIM-Clinical Nutrition approved residency with eligibility to take the board examination in clinical nutrition
• Licensed or eligible for regular or special licensing to practice veterinary medicine in Texas

Work environment

• Part of the Gastrointestinal Laboratory with one tenure-track clinical nutritionist and one licensed veterinary technician specialized in clinical nutrition
• Opportunities for rich research collaborations within the Gastrointestinal Laboratory, the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and beyond
• Access to sophisticated diagnostic and patient care equipment in the VMTH
• New state-of-the-art 135,000 square foot hospital under construction with plans for opening in August 2027
• Interaction with approximately 60 small animal faculty members, 40 large animal faculty members, and more than 100 faculty members in basic sciences in the VMBS
• Active group of house officers including more than 50 interns and residents from other medical and surgical disciplines
