About the role

The School Of Information Sciences (iSchool) At The University Of Illinois Invites Applications For Full-time, Tenure-track Faculty Positions At All Ranks. We Welcome Applications In The Broad Areas Of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Including But Not Limited To foundation models AI for social good, social justice, and social change human-AI interaction machine learning (e.g., deep learning) natural language processing trustworthy AI, explainable AI, automated methods that support the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) and / or FATE (fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics) data / text mining, graph mining data ethics data storytelling domain informed data science knowledge representation network science * data science.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct world-class research in the broad areas of artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Teach effectively in undergraduate, professional, and doctoral programs.
  • Contribute to the mission of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Information Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong record of research and publication in relevant fields.
  • Experience in teaching at the university level.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.

Skills

  • Expertise in AI, particularly in areas like foundation models, social good, social justice, and social change.
  • Experience with machine learning, natural language processing, and trustworthy AI.
  • Knowledge of data mining, graph mining, and data ethics.
  • Ability to engage in interdisciplinary research and teaching.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 9-month basis. The expected start date is August 16, 2024.
