*Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor, Music (Musicology or Ethnomusicology), African and/or African Diasporic Musics

About the role

Fordham University’s Department of Art History and Music seeks a full‑time tenure‑track Ethnomusicologist / Musicologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, specializing in African‑American, African, and/or Afro‑Diasporic Musics. The position is based at the Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx (with access to Lincoln Center facilities) and begins in Fall 2027. Responsibilities

• Teach advanced courses for upper‑level students in Music.
• Teach introductory courses for the general student population in African and/or African‑Diasporic musics.
• Develop a dynamic research program and maintain effectiveness as a classroom teacher.
• Encouraged to pursue subspecialties such as contemporary music production/industry or musical theater.
• Collaborate with other academic departments and programs (e.g., African and African American Studies, American Studies, Communication and Media Studies).
• Integrate NYC‑area cultural institutions into teaching.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in musicology or ethnomusicology.
• Demonstrated research agenda and pedagogical program.
• Evidence of effective teaching.

Pay

$98,526 to $105,000 (salary range).

Full‑time tenure‑track position, with appointment beginning Fall 2027.
