About the role
The School of Music invites applicants for an appointment of Visiting Assistant Professor in Musicology, beginning August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Knowledgeable about contemporary pedagogical approaches in musicology, broadly defined, at the undergraduate level.
- Full load teaching requirements will include (but are not limited to) courses in: Western music history before 1900, American popular music history, and global musics.
- Other responsibilities are assigned by the Director of the School of Music depending on qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- PhD degree in musicology or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Experience teaching at the university level as an instructor of record or teaching assistant.
- Ability to teach undergraduate music history and global musics courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as instructor of record and/or other expertise in early Western music and American popular music.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $4,000 - $5,000 per month.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is a full-time appointment, 9-month contract.
