About the role
The Department of Fine Arts at MVSU is seeking an Assistant Professor of Music to join the tenure-track faculty.
Responsibilities
- Teach an equivalent of 12 hours per semester in applied lessons, methods classes, and lectures.
- Recruit, prepare trumpet and horn students for recitals and juries.
- Advise students and engage in departmental, university, and community partnerships.
- Engage in scholarly research and pursue funding opportunities.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or D.M.A from a NASM accredited institution, or ABD with at least 2 years teaching experience.
- Evidence of mastery in trumpet or horn performance through links to video performances and teaching.
- A 1-2 page statement of personal teaching philosophy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in teaching music history and literature, music theory, aural skills, or recording technology.
