Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Information Science (Data Science)

About the role

The School of Information Science (iSchool) at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) seeks an Assistant Professor to join the faculty starting August 16, 2023.

Responsibilities

• Expand on one or more of the following areas in Data Science: Applied Data and Text Mining, Applied AI and Machine Learning (ML), Critical Data Studies, User Experience, Information Architecture, Web and Mobile Application Development, Social Network Analysis, Cybersecurity

Requirements

• PhD in Information Science, Computer Science, or related field
• Research and teaching experience in Data Science
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience with data science methodologies and tools

Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
• Knowledge of data management systems and databases
