Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track - Library and Information Science

The successful candidate will be a creative, collaborative, and forward-thinking scholar of Library and Information Science, who demonstrates excellence in research and education, and joins the rest of our faculty in forging a more just and sustainable future.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the research and teaching portfolio in Library and Information Science (LIS), focusing on knowledge organization and representation, intellectual freedom and community engagement in libraries and archives, and the design, delivery, and assessment of ethically-informed information systems sensitive to the needs of diverse communities.
- Engage with the University of Washington Information School’s strategic commitments to promoting equity in health & wellbeing, encouraging environmental sustainability and resilience, and fostering a more informed, just, and equitable democratic society.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialization, as well as advance the Masters of Library and Information Science (MLIS) curriculum.
- Perform service that furthers the mission of the Information School and the University of Washington more broadly.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science or a related field, a strong research trajectory, and a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

- A demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research.
- A strong record of seeking and acquiring extramural funding for research.
- A commitment to fostering a more informed, just, and equitable society through libraries, archives, and the wider information world.
Skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Experience in developing and using information technologies.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
