About the role

The Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Temple University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Hydrology, to begin in July 2026. The specialization within hydrology is flexible, but we especially welcome applications from individuals whose research will complement or further strengthen the department’s established expertise in hydrogeology, urban hydrology, hydrogeophysics, and ecohydrology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a highly creative, externally funded research program
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in geology/environmental science

Requirements

  • Prior experience or potential in teaching groundwater hydrology at undergraduate and graduate levels is not required but will be advantageous

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Research experience in hydrology, particularly in areas such as hydrogeology, urban hydrology, hydrogeophysics, and ecohydrology
  • Strong teaching record, especially in undergraduate and graduate-level geology and environmental science courses

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the university
