About the role
The Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications (ALEC), College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University, invites applications for a cohort hire of up to four full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor faculty positions with academic, scholarly, and professional credentials and accomplishments in the social sciences, specifically pertaining to Artificial Intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the continued growth of ALEC academic programs, specifically the Ph.D. programs in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications and the undergraduate degrees in Agricultural Communications & Journalism (AGCJ), Agricultural Education (AGED), and Agricultural Leadership (ALED), or the special instructional areas of Applied Youth Development (AYD) and International Agriculture Development (IDAG).
- Carry a division of effort of 50% research, 40% teaching, and 10% service.
- Obtain federal, state, industrial, and/or foundation funding to support and sustain a vigorous research program.
- Advance the use and understanding of artificial intelligence in agricultural communication, education, and social systems.
- Contribute to methodological innovation and theory-building at the intersection of AI and social science, with applications in areas such as science communication, curriculum design, and public trust in food, agriculture, and One Health contexts.
Requirements
- Ph.D. with a closely related discipline.
- Strong examples might include Agricultural Education/Leadership; Learning Sciences/Educational Technology; Agricultural Communications or Informational Sciences; Human-Computer Interaction/Human-Centered AI; Sociology, Psychology, or Youth Development; Organizational Studies; or International Development.
- Evidence of research productivity or strong potential in Artificial Intelligence, including publications in Web of Science and a clear path toward externally funded research.
- An appropriate range of methodological expertise that closely aligns with ALEC’s identity as a social-science driven department, including predictive modeling, analytics, experiments, human-centered AI, participatory design, fairness analysis, bias detection, policy-oriented analysis.
- Academic preparation and experience in teaching and/or facilitating programs.

- Ability to develop curriculum, teach, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Experience working on interdisciplinary projects, program evaluation, and the application of advanced development methods and statistics in the integration of research and practice.
