About the role
The School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking four tenure-track Assistant Professor positions starting in Fall 2023. These positions are part of a significant expansion of the faculty in the new undergraduate Informatics degree program, which offers six concentrations:
- Cultural Heritage Informatics
- Health Informatics
- Human-Centered Data Science
- Social Informatics
- Social Justice Informatics
- User Experience (UX) Design
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to conduct research and teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. They should have expertise in at least one of the iSchool’s concentrations in the Informatics degree program and may have expertise that spans more than one concentration or focuses on the intersections of these concentrations. They will address the human and/or societal implications of information and technology.
Requirements
We are particularly interested in information scholars who have expertise that spans more than one concentration or focuses on the intersections of these concentrations. Candidates focused on human-centered design and use of information technology for human benefit, social good, and/or social justice in local and global contexts will fit well within the culture of our school and are particularly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field by the start date of the position. A record of scholarly achievement and teaching effectiveness is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Skills
Strong candidates will have a demonstrated ability to integrate theory and practice, and to contribute to the development of innovative curricula and pedagogical approaches. They should also have experience working with diverse student populations and communities.
