Tenure-track, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
About the role
The Departments of Computer Science (Courant Institute) and Physics (Faculty of Arts and Science) of New York University invite applications for a position in the general area of computational quantum sciences with a goal towards developing algorithms for quantum computation and/or simulation of complex quantum systems. The position is a 50-50 joint appointment between the NYU Courant Computer Science and FAS Physics departments, with the appointee spending half of their effort in each place. The opening is at the tenure track Assistant Professor level, although more senior candidates may be considered in exceptional circumstances. The appointment can begin as early as September 1, 2024, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research in computational quantum sciences, including the development of algorithms for quantum computation and/or simulation of complex quantum systems.
- Collaborate with faculty and students in both the Computer Science and Physics departments.
- Teach courses in computational quantum sciences and related areas.
Requirements
- A PhD in Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong research record in computational quantum sciences.
- Excellent teaching skills.
Qualifications
- Experience in quantum computing and/or quantum simulation.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
Skills
- Programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Python, C++, etc.).
