Temporary Tax and Accounting Assistant

About the role

The Casual/Seasonal Tax and Accounting Assistant position at Compeer Financial provides essential processing and administrative support to the Tax and Accounting department. This role ensures team members and clients receive professional, accurate, efficient, and reliable assistance. You will work closely with full-time Assistants, gaining valuable insights into the culture of an agricultural tax and accounting firm. Ideal for individuals looking to immerse themselves in the agribusiness sector while developing skills in tax and accounting processes.

Position begins January 2027 and continues through mid-April 2027 (tax season). Located in Wisconsin offices: Fond du Lac, Sun Prairie, Prairie du Sac, Dodgeville, Onalaska, or Johnson Creek.

Responsibilities

• Scan, process, print, and mail client W-2s, 1099 forms, and various tax returns
• Ensure tax service fees are uploaded into the system
• Complete various tax and accounting mailings
• Provide accurate and timely accounting and tax processing support
• Maintain tracking system and adhere to department policies, procedures, and best practices to balance workload and meet aggressive timelines

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills
• High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
• Skills in using MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability and willingness to learn Adobe and other technology

Pay

Base Pay: $19 – $21 USD per hour. Actual hourly rate offered is dependent upon year in school, work experience, transferable skills, business needs, and market demands. The hourly rate range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Schedule

Minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, with opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week during January 2027 – mid-April 2027.
