Temporary Senior Machine Operator
About the role
The Township of Laird is seeking a Temporary Senior Machine Operator for a 3–6 month term, with the possibility of extension. The primary responsibility of this position is to support road maintenance and construction activities, including the operation of municipal equipment such as a grader, backhoe, and plow truck. The position works under the direction of the Road Superintendent and may involve extended or on-call hours depending on operational needs.

Requirements
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Minimum three years of related experience, preferably in a municipal environment
- Knowledge and experience in road maintenance, construction, equipment maintenance and operation of equipment such as plow truck with wing and sander, grader, backhoe, steam jenny, and general shop tools
- Valid DZ Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract
- Chainsaw safety and operator certification
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Residency within or near the community is considered an asset
