Temporary Senior Equipment Mechanic

Under the direction of the Highway Division Superintendent, the successful applicant will perform tasks related to the inspection and repair of light and heavy equipment, hand tools, and specialized mechanical equipment for the Public Works Department/Highway Division.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul major operative units
  • Repair and maintain electric, cooling, brake, and fuel systems
  • Perform, replace, and reassemble body and fender components
  • Assemble and test new equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Assist in building maintenance work
  • Record and requisition garage and automotive supplies and spare parts
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, or equivalent apprenticeship training in automotive mechanics
  • Six (6) years of experience in repair, maintenance, and overhaul of motorized vehicles and equipment, or ten (10) years of experience as a journeyman mechanic in the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of motorized vehicles and equipment

Pay

\$28.16 per hour. Individuals with CDL or Hoisting Licenses receive an additional \$2.00 per hour. In-house RI CDL or RI Hoisting License training is available for those without licensing.

Schedule

40 hours per week.
